Brazilian Test Apparatus
Technical Specifications
Purpose :
- Brazilian Test Apparatus is designed to test specimens from 50 mm diameter to 100 mm diameter, having thickness equal to half of the diameter, for determination of Indirect Tensile Strength of rocks.
Specimen :
- The specimen is held in circular jaws.
Construction :
- This is primarily similar to a compression machine and consists of a small load frame having sturdy base, two vertical threaded rods and an adjustable cross head.
Hydraulic System :
- The hydraulic jack is fitted at the centre of the load frame. The jack of the load frame is self-retracting and two plain platens are supplied.
Load Measurement :
- A pressure gauge with capacity 0 100 1 kN is fixed at the base of the jack.
- A maximum pointer is also provided on the gauge.
Accessories :
- A pair of semicircular platens for 50 mm samples is supplied.
Optional Accessories :
- The other pairs of jaws should be ordered separately.
Alternative Use :
- It can be used instead of 100 kN Digital Point Load Apparatus with suitable accessories.
