Applications
An optional duct module for the airflow system enabling students to investigate simple flow visualisation techniques including smoke and cotton thread. A smoke generator produces a visual oil mist introduced into the airstream ahead of the test shape through fine nozzles. Three standard shapes (aerofoil, triangle and cylinder) can be inserted in the duct; two of these (aerofoil and triangle) may be rotated to change the flow field around them. The smoke generator console includes a main switch, internal pump and flow control valve to regulate smoke volume, with a smoke wand containing an internal heater at the end of the hose.
